Founded in 2007 as an Abril Group´s arm, in early 2010 the company started to work separately from April S.A. after a corporate reorganization. Abril Educação comprises the publishing houses Ática and Scipione; the teaching systems Anglo, Ser and Maxi; the pH Course and School, the ETB Group (Escolas Técnicas do Brasil); Siga, preparatory courses for examinations and Livemocha, language teaching.
Bought in 1999, the publishing houses Ática and Scipione are leaders in the Brazilian schoolbook market, with close to 3,500 authors and over 50 million books sold in 2010.
The teaching systems Ser, created in 2007, and Anglo, bought in 2010, have 387 thousand students in over a thousand Brazilian schools. The teaching system Maxi, bought in 2011, is used in schools from 21 Brazilian states. Born in 2001, Siga is the absolute reference in preparatory courses for examinations.
The pH Course and School, one of the most traditional in Rio de Janeiro, has 6,600 students in its branches in Rio and in Niterói. The ETB Group, focused on high quality technical education, has 2,400 students in its units in the state of São Paulo.
